The Avon Fire Department hires full time firefighters from a civil service list. Part time firefighters are hired by application and applications are only available at the fire department. The Avon Fire Department only keeps a minimum of part time firefighters. There were 3 firefighters hired in 2007 off of the current civil service list. The current civil service list expires fall 2008. The next test for the civil service list has not been announced. The Chief is looking to have the test at the end of the summer. Once the test details are finalized, it will be posted on this site and in the local papers. For information on the next test date, check back to this website or contact the Fire Department or Safety Service Director.
